So Elliot has been shot. He’s treated by doctors, the operation facilitated by Whiterose, which is shown off camera, but it does happen. We are shown a scene from where Whiterose is overlooking the Large Hadron Collider, from what I thought looked similar to looking over a patient in a hospital bed (Elliot). While the opening titles of the transition of the machinery to Elliot’s eye may just be there to look pretty, I figured that it is intended to show how Elliot’s mind functions in the same way to the machinery and its capabilities in discovery and the device is supposed to represent that. All in all it is simply just an artistic approach I believe just as we see Mr. Robot in the place of Elliot when his personality shifts. However what remains to be explained is why Elliot would be compared to such a device and what he will be used for.

Such a corrupted mind like Elliot’s could be what Whiterose needs to experiment on to push his own technology. I am definitely wrong, however I am looking forward to what the show is going to do in the coming weeks, as well as reading your own theories. I have a different view of this. I'm not sure that they're looking out into the LHC as there's only one that's in France and they are clearly at a Nuclear Power Plant in Washington Township. I think they are looking out into a Nuclear Reactor, which pulls away from it and eventually comes out Elliot's eye. Now, there's a part where there's bubbling liquid, which one might assume is just maybe eye goop, but is possibly shown as the heat exchanger part of a nuclear reactor.

Remember, Zhang has said that what the Dark Army lacks is Elliot's unadulterated, focused rage. Having that much pure rage is often hard to control and when you have a split personality disorder (or whatever is going on with Elliot and Robot), it makes it even harder to control. That's why he's called such a crazy little goose. Elliot is the nuclear chain reaction. And we have Zhang looking out at a possible nuclear reactor core, which is used to initiate and control nuclear chain reactions.
