Since you're in the golfsmith I would say hit them with the sim machine and see how it feels. Hit other clubs and see how they compare. Then you'll know if its worth it to you. I personally have never hit any macgregor club. FWIW the 3W and 5W are long clubs too and can be just as inconsistent if a solid swing is not in place first!

You won't get accurate readings from the sim if you're into ball speed, spin rate, launch angle, etc, but you'll get a feel for the club.
